Luca Bosco’s racing season has already started at Imola but, this weekend, on his home circuit of Paul Ricard it will be like a new beginning.
Luca Bosco’s racing season in the 2022 European GT4 Series has already started at Imola some weeks ago. This weekend, on his home track of Paul Ricard, it will be a very special weekend for the Selleslagh Racing driver. It will not only be his home race in France, but it is also on the track where his career in GT4 started.
It is no secret that Luca Bosco’s career in GT racing began almost by chance right on this French racetrack during a testday (obviously with a Mercedes-AMG). He immediately found the feeling onboard the car, but proved to be fast as well. This is why Paul Ricard represents a sort of milestone in Bosco’s career. The start of something that Luca himself hopes it will grow and become even greater.
Last season, Luca already showed the ability to fight for the podium at Paul Ricard, with more podiums to come afterwards and a third position in the PRO-AM Class at the end of his first season.
The challenge this year will be even stronger, as Luca will compete in Silver Class, being a lot more competitive. This Silver class has already proved to be difficult to interpret, especially due to the number and quality of competitors at the start. In Imola, Luca took the measures right from the start, working as always with his team and new team-mate Alexander Papadopulos. Sixth and eighth place in the race, which Luca will try to improve this weekend right away in front of his public and his sponsors.
L.Bosco: “The first time I drove a GT4 was on this track. And it was with this Mercedes-AMG GT4 of the SRT team, a coincidence that was already written. It is one of the tracks I am most fond of, I must admit. I really like the track, especially the technical and fast part. Being my ‘home’ track I will also have the chance to have my sponsors present like AZ Telecom, Activa Laboratories, CBD Shop France. I am very happy and I hope to entertain them. This year there are a lot of cars, there are more than 50 of us at the start so it’s all about finding the right lap in qualifying to be able to start on the front rows and build a good weekend. The level is very high. For now we are fifth in the Silver Class and we will do our best as usual to score points during each race. The key will be to find the clean lap and not make any mistakes as these are unforgiving. I can’t wait to get back on track and by the way, it will officially be my first race having my road driving licence!”
The weekend will start as usual on Friday with two free practice sessions. Saturday will be the most demanding and challenging of the weekend with qualifying from 10.30am and Race 1 scheduled at 4.20pm. The French weekend will close on Sunday morning with Race 2 at 11.25am.
