With his third place in Cremona, Cristian Bertuca is the new WSK Super Master Series KZ2 Champion.
The fourth weekend of the Super Master Series calendar, the last in the program, closed the games for the final classification of the queen class. A ride that lasted four races starting from Lonato, Franciacorta, Sarno and, precisely, Cremona, which allowed Bertuca to put his name in the roll of honour of the most important and historical series of the WSK Promotion panorama.
With two victories and two other podiums in the three previous rounds, Cristian arrived in Cremona with a discrete advantage in the standings, in any case not enough to remain completely calm. A weekend, therefore, on the attack of the first positions from the start with a good fifth place in qualifying to be administered in the only three heats available.
It was precisely the programme of heats between Friday and Saturday that demonstrated all the constancy, determination and experience now developed by the ‘Cannibal’, who was good at always staying in the best positions, finishing without errors with three third positions out of three and the fourth starting place for Sunday’s pre-final. A penultimate act that has for a moment “worried” the Birel Art driver, back from the great brawl in the first positions and from a 5sec penalty (front nose) that forced him to “relegation” from fourth to ninth place in the standings and to the fifth starting place for the KZ2 final.
Very high concentration for Cristian despite the pressure for the final valid for the title, perfect start and third position quickly gained. After the first few laps, Bertuca continued to impose his own rhythm on the race, staying, also on this occasion, in the group of the top three. The third position under the chequered flag (the fourth podium position out of four races), then sanctioned the absolute conquest of the WSK Super Master Series KZ2 Championship title, the first in his career.
The final classification ended with 309 points obtained by Cristian, thirty-one ahead of the first of the pursuers.
C.Bertuca: “It is incredible to have concluded this weekend so complex and tense until the end with the overall success. I’m really happy with this result, for which I have worked so hard together with the team and will continue to work for the rest of the season. After the first races last year, the second place during the World Championship, we were looking forward to triumphing and bringing home the first big success in this category. Many thanks to Birel Art, all the staff, Ronni Sala and Riccardo Longhi who have always believed in me, my super mechanic Luciano Memoli, TM and Viti Racing for the engines, all my sponsors, my family, Giorgia and all my friends on the track. Onwards to the next races!”
