Climbs and descents of the Portuguese facility, stage for the fourth round of the season for the FIM JuniorGP World Championship, faced as always with the knife between the teeth by the Eagle-1 staff and Alessandro Morosi on track.
The “Morox” returned to his standards in qualifying, managing to complete excellent free practice sessions on Thursday, Friday and Saturday morning, useful for direct access to Q2. Timed practice session as usual of great tension for everyone, closed by Morosi with the thirteenth time overall for the starting grids on Sunday.
In Race 1, the level of competition proved to be high and amply managed by the Eagle-1 driver, who was able to make a good start and then set his own race pace, rehearsed in the previous days. Alessandro’s pace was excellent, especially for remaining in the usual leading group for the entire duration of the race, playing for the podium positions. Eighth place in a comeback for Morosi, widely in the top ten.
The second and last race of the weekend at Portimao on Sunday afternoon saw Alessandro involved in a contact in turn one that ruined his trajectory, and he had to avoid further contact in front of him by finishing on the gravel. Many positions were lost but just as many recovered after returning to the track with a race pace (similar to that of the leaders). Sixteenth final position under the chequered flag.
Eagle-1 will be back on track next week at the Barcelona circuit (15/16 July) for the fifth round before the break.
