Simone Iaquinta archived the Budapest round with a great comeback and a return to the top ten in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup, before returning immediately to the track for the Spa-Francorchamps round.
A good weekend that projects immediately to the next for the Huber Racing driver, back on track in a few days on the historic Belgian circuit.
Almost similar timetables also on this occasion with free practice scheduled at 06.30pm on Friday 28 July, afternoon qualifying on Saturday 29 July at 03.00pm. Grand finale on Sunday 30 July with the last race before the summer break at 11.45am (12 laps + a formation lap). The whole weekend will be visible as always on Sky channel 207 (Sky Sport F1).
The awareness gathered in Budapest will therefore lead Iaquinta to start in the best possible way for a new race weekend. Among the winding curves of the Hungarian track (Hungaroring), the Huber Racing driver worked hard together with the team from the start, especially on Friday, which seemed to be conditioned by rain. Many set-up tests were carried out by Simone and his team to arrive at the optimum conditions, especially on a circuit as special as Budapest with its fast corners and rather tricky hairpins. Qualifying saw Iaquinta still having to struggle to express his potential to the full.
In Sunday morning’s race, that same potential already highlighted allowed Simone to recover lap after lap, position after position starting from 15th position thanks to race pace and level overtaking.
The Huber Racing driver then made himself even more of a protagonist in the tussle with the last overtaking move valid for eighth place overall and amply the place in the top ten, brought home right at the penultimate corner of the last lap on the winner of the previous race. A move that is worth a good injection of confidence for the Italian driver in view of the upcoming races.
S.Iaquinta: “I’m happy with this good result at a track like Budapest. Recovering is never easy here, now I hope to continue and improve further to fight even further ahead in the classification. The work together with the team is taking the right direction and I thank them for the whole weekend. Now we go to Spa with the desire to continue this path”.
