The Ukrainian pilot once again demonstrated great competitiveness in the WSK Super Master Series, despite some race episodes.
Considering Oleksandr’s performance on the track, the Franciacorta weekend could have been even more positive. Some episodes slowed down Team Driver’s race without erasing the good potential for the upcoming races.
The race on Friday was fast but decidedly intense for Legenkyi, dealing with a high-quality qualifying session despite the bagarre during the crucial lap with other drivers. He secured the fifth absolute time in his qualifying session and the tenth absolute time, earning him the fourth position in Group A.
Two heats on Saturday provided the right boost for the Team Driver pilot to give his best. In the first heat, a minor hiccup during the start forced Alex to restart from the back, eventually retiring due to contact caused by an opponent while he was making a comeback. The second and final heat did more justice to the Ukrainian’s competitiveness, allowing him to gain five positions and finish in second place.
In Sunday’s pre-final, another strong race pace led to a further three positions gained in the recovery and a sixth-place finish under the checkered flag, despite a yellow flag preventing further advancements. A useful result to gain more ground for the final starting grid.
In the 60 Mini Gr.3 ultimate final, Legenkyi managed the start well from the twelfth position. The battles in the subsequent laps and the mid-group struggle forced the Team Driver pilot to conclude in P17. Not the desired result in Franciacorta, but all the other heats, excluding the episodes, confirmed the good competitiveness that Oleksandr will bring back to the track next week at the Sarno event, the final one for the WSK Super Master Series 2024.
