The 35th Andrea Margutti Trophy has gone into the archives and Oleksandr Legenkyi did his best for the whole weekend.
It was not an easy race that ended last weekend at Lonato, but more than ever useful for the rest of the season.
Qualifying had seen the Team Driver stop the stopwatch on a lap time valid for seventh place in his session and fourteenth overall. A good start to the fight in the Group B heats.
In the first of the three heats, Alex made no mistakes, recovering two positions and moving up to P8. Something similar in the second heat, but much better with six positions recovered and a third place overall as a sign of the great competitiveness demonstrated on the track.
Unfortunately, Sunday did not smile on the Ukrainian driver who in the pre-final was forced to finish far from the positions due to a contact caused by another driver who took Alex off the track at the second corner after the start. In spite of this, he managed to recover half a lap and made some overtaking moves before finishing in 27th place. Almost identical fate in the final where, despite starting from the back of the grid, he was able to recover in just a few laps to eighth position and into the leading group. Race contacts then forced Legenkyi to finish far from the top.
A finish that does not reflect all the potential that Oleksandr expressed during the weekend, in any case useful and valid for the rest of the season in full growth.
