The Eagle-1 team concluded the ‘first part’ of the FIM Junior Gp season with the last race before the summer break in Barcelona. Alessandro Morosi protagonist of the weekend.
A good weekend in spite of the final result, excellent and with extremely positive signs to go towards the summer break with eyes set on a return to the track in October.
Alessandro Morosi had already shown excellent lap times and good race pace in the free practice/test sessions on Thursday and Friday, looking for the best set-up for a track as complete as the one in Catalunya.
On Saturday of free practice and qualifying, ‘Morox’ managed to qualify, as usual, directly for Q2 thanks to the fifth fastest time in the official free practice session. It was not an easy qualifying in the afternoon with tight lap times and his own best time cancelled due to track limits. P15 on the grid for Sunday’s double event.
In the first race of the weekend, Alessandro had to deal with a rather chaotic start, losing a few positions. Overtaking and race pace then brought him back into the thick of the fight for the top positions in the group, finishing ninth overall.
In Race 2, Eagle-1 became the absolute protagonist of the battle for success thanks to Morosi’s incredible comeback after the start and the fast laps set, which helped him to stay in the first three positions. Thrilling overtakes and counter-overtakes for the Italian driver, more than once also leading the group from the first position. A few laps from the end, an unfortunate contact with another rider on the braking of turn 1, involved Alessandro in the fall without consequences that ended the race. A pity for all the good he had done up to that point and for a fight that would have allowed him to win the first race of the season.
Data and progress in any case more than positive for Eagle-1, heading into the summer break with a first positive balance of the season and two appointments still to be held at Aragon (8th October) and Valencia (5th November). Eagle-1 thanks all its staff, Alessandro, technical partners and sponsors.
