Leonardo Marseglia finishes fourth in the German weekend of Wackersdorf, first round of the European KZ2 Championship.

Starting from where he left off, this is the synthesis of the first engagement with the FIA Karting season for Marseglia. With the fourth position obtained last Sunday, the Apulian driver kicked off his European season by reconfirming his competitiveness after the fourth place obtained during the weekend of the FIA 2020 World Championship. A convincing restart at the first KZ2 presence with Kart Republic colours, the result of the great pre-season work to arrive in the best conditions at the season debut.

A work on learning the new material and then on the search for the best performance that paid off at the right time on a technical and fast circuit like the Pro Kart Raceland of Wackersdorf.
Performance level since qualifying for Leonardo, able to make the most of their session stopping the clock on 47.382 despite the traffic, sixth best time overall and pole position for the group F in view of the preliminary heats.

Five heats where the driver Kart Republic has immediately established its potential remaining between second and third position, surrounded by four fastest laps of the race on the five heats available. Solid and constant path for Marseglia, valid to start from the sixth box of the grid in the twenty-six laps of the KZ2 final.

After the lights went out, Marseglia immediately tried not to lose contact with the leading positions, setting his own pace in the early stages of the race. A long battle with an opponent had led the Italian to accuse a few seconds of gap with respect to the competition, immediately taken to cancel to the sound of fast laps with free track ahead. Leonardo then finished in fourth place overall just a step away from the fight for the top three positions, especially considering the great race pace shown.

With his best placement in an FIA Karting race, Leonardo is currently in fourth place in the general classification, in full fight for the continental title. Next stage on the Italian circuit of Adria (Rovigo) on the weekend of 15th August.

Leonardo: “Together with the team I was really very competitive all weekend, we just missed the podium. Fourth place again… now we push hard to get a trophy! I would like to thank very much the Headmaster Stefania Metrangolo of my school, the Liceo Scientifico Fermi-Monticelli in Brindisi, for always supporting me and allowing me to take part in the competitions. Now I have another very important goal in my life ahead of me… the Maturity, where I will give my all as I am used to doing in sport”.
