A good race weekend for Oleksandr Legenkyi at Sarno for a new round of the Italian ACI Karting Championship.
At the new Circuito Internazionale Napoli, Alex did his best from the start to be the protagonist in the Mini Gr.3 category, which as always was very competitive and hard-fought. The work together with his Team Driver immediately brought good results that materialised throughout the weekend.
A step by step work that in qualifying rewarded Legenkyi able to close with a good P3 in his timed session and P5 in the overall classification (best lap in 1.06.810) at +0.093sec from the overall pole position.
There were two heats in the Mini Gr.3 program, both on Saturday, and both in a comeback for the Ukrainian driver. The first heat had a thrilling finale with Alex finishing in second position but only by +0.001sec gap! A really exciting photo finish, extended by the result of the second heat, which still ended in second place overall. Two excellent placings useful for moving up the classification and securing the front row for Race 1.
There was a long battle in Race 1 for Legenkyi, who was excellent in his race pace and always in the top positions, finishing in the Top Five with a fifth place under the chequered flag.
In Race 2, with an inverted grid start, thanks to his race pace, Alex managed not only to recover but also to stay in touch with the fight for victory, managing to cross the finish line in second place and on the podium!
Podium that unfortunately, due to a penalty that arrived only after the podium ceremony, relegated Alex Legenkyi to P11. A bittersweet but in any case positive result overall and useful to look forward to the next appointments such as the last round of the Italian Championship on 22 September at Lonato.
